I came across Dusbuster. As the name suggests, it dusts our PC by removing the garbage and other temporary files on our computer, thus freeing up the space. The good thing is, users don’t have to interact too much with the tool. With it’s built-in smartness, it will detect and delete the files by itself ( has anybody had any problems with this, as could be scary if you think about it). I normally clean my computer regularly, but when I ran this tool, it cleaned up 659 MB of space on my PC, which I think is quite good.
A very nice tutorial about setting up VPN Server and client
A user in Security Forums has posted a nice pictorial about setting up a VPN Server and VPN client. A user does not have to read big volumes to get started with VPN connections. Good work.
I am still using Plaxo
Remember Plaxo, there was a huge buzz about privacy issues surrounding Plaxo when it came out. I have been using it for more than 6 months now. Quite happy with the services. Just realised that they have a new birthday reminder service as a part of their service when I read Ben Golub’s post on Plaxo Blog. Ben is a two month old CEO at Plaxo.
Computer security tool for both experts and novice users
GetData is offering a tool which makes our computer more secure. This tool can be used for both novice users as well as computer experts to make their work much more faster. Here are the steps that the tool will go through. But to summarise, the tool will go through User Account Security, communication security, file associations and permission, spyware and Windows Security. It’s worth a try.
New Moox Firefox version released
Moox has just released optimised version of Firefox 1.0.2. I have downloaded and have installed them. They are working great. Now I am with Firefox for quite a long time. One thing that I really like about Firefox is I have the power in my hands of how I want to use my browser and how I want to customise, which I was lacking behind in Internet Explorer.
EU forces Windows XP name change
Rich Ord puts his view about EU forcing the name change. I agree. This is just more hassle for novice computer users. Now they will need access to the Internet to download other media players. Now new computer users will also have to know how to install things on their computer. Why could’nt they make a ruling where they say that Microsoft has to install Real Player or some other player along with Media Player and then let users decide which player to use ?
Comic Update
Just to inform all of you that I am still hooked to reading comic strips. Although I have subscribed to a whole lot, just to get a feel of all of them, I have started to like quite a few of them. The RSS feed that I am subsribed to is here. Are there any better ones that anybody recommends?
Foxit, 1 MB pdf reader
I just downloaded and tried Foxit, a pdf reader that is just 1 MB in size and very fast as well. Worth and try and I think this can be very handy as I can carry this application as email attachment where ever I go. Now I don’t have to worry about Adobe Acrobat Reader not available and having to download a bit more heavy Acrobat Reader. One should give this a try as well. Let me know if you find any other better solutions.
It’s a shame
As you might have read that few days back I started reading and getting into comic strips on the Internet and have been enjoying the journey since. Among few strips that I have been reading regularly, one that I like is Angst Technology. Today I went ahead and read about the face behind this comic strip. The name is Barry Smith, the creator of this strip with few more that he creates. Barry wrote about his issue with not been able to spend too much time writing the strips with the circumstances in his life. It’s a shame Barry that we don’t have enough time for all the exciting things that we want to do in life. Ofcourse money is always a problem. It’s a shame all in all. I wish I could do something that really make a difference in what you do. I really wish you good luck with your life and your future. Hope to keep seeing “Angst Technology” moving along and that the creator of Angst Technology would make it really big someday.
I am trying Google Ads
I will be trying Google Ads on this site. As you can see, it’s on the side right hand bar of this blog. My intention is not to earn thousand’s of dollars from it, but I still want to try the ads on my site and see the potential of online advertising revenue. So I will see how I go. Earning something that can even support my hosting service would be a good start I think.
