Yes, that’s it. Three words. Think about it, meditate on it and internalise it. May be you will never blame someone again.
Example of Clarity – #IYW
An example of what clarity is. Enjoy the story.
A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child’s artwork. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, “I’m drawing God.”The teacher paused and said, “but no one knows what God looks like.
”Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied, “They will in a minute.”

Topping up a story #IYW
Don’t. Avoid topping someone else’s story.

I am constantly reminding myself not to top up someone else’s story (and I am far from perfect). But it is important to learn to listen and give the appreciation someone’s story deserves. It might not be the best you might have heard and you might have a better story, but keep it in your pants, for another day. Let someone else’s story a chance to live and be heard.

Leadership Secret #IYW
So what is the secret to leadership you ask?
I don’t think there is ‘a’ secret or there will ever be. People come up with catchy blog titles to get the attention and almost every second day an article comes on my screen with the word ‘leadership’ and lot of the time the word ‘secret’ attached to it. HBR has an article today. If you happen to find a secret, please share with me.
Till then, be yourself and keep doing the work and of course, ignore the noise. There you go again, I just told you a leadership secret as well, didn’t I?

Inaccurate Resume – Part II
Following on from my previous post, Alok Kejriwal’s post made me think on this matter again.
I see how this is a trust issue. As I commented on Alok’s post that this lie must have been coming through quite a few years and Scott T must have found it hard if not impossible to retract back on it.
I don’t think I would have forgiven a doctor if she had lied about her degree and let her off the hook that easily. I won’t even have let go a plumber who is not certified and claims to be a certified plumber, so should the board and shareholders let go a CEO who is not what he is claiming?
What’s important to an investor – a CEO wearing a hoodie or a product that makes them money
Zuckerberg’s Hoodie is a mark of immaturity says an Analyst. Now is it? Are the investors investing in a suit or a product and the people running them? How many of those investors use Facebook themselves and what have they learnt from it?
What a load of crap!
Inaccurate Resume
Yahoo’s CEO must be facing sleepless nights with someone finding inaccuracies in his resume. Two questions:
- Would he (the current CEO) fire someone in his team or at Yahoo if he found out about inaccuracies in the submitted resume, especially if they were really good at what they do?
- Would you fire someone with a deliberate misleading resume but a highly capable person if he is trying to maintain and steer a sinking ship?
Stories that are more interesting
How to tell how great or bad some products are and the impact they are having on a person’s life? Listen to the stories. Listen to their stories talking about them and their life and how a product or a service fits into that. That certainly makes up for a good story and provides better answers than asking them how they use a product or a service.
Stories immersed with emotions and passion are more powerful then reading or listening to a product review.
