Congratulations to Nirav on his new House and his relationship of lifetime

Hi All! I am a bit late in giving a speech for Nirav's House Warming and Engagement party, but it is never late to say things from your heart I guess!

Nirav and I go back nearly 9 and something years now, in early 2000. I think I can say that we have grown up together in Australia. When I look back today, most of the time in each other's company has been spent in having fun, sharing laughs, arguing about small things in life, disagreeing but still have fun at many other aspects of life [an example is Nirav shares a lot of passion for bombs and for invading countries which at times I don't]. Through this time, I have truly enjoyed having him as a friend, a younger brother and a person who is always standing next to you when you need him the most.

This photo was taken sometime in 2003.

From living in a room half the size of his garage [yes, we did share a room together half the size of the garage and we nearly lived in the North Balwyn house for 3 years] to moving to his own House [HOME SWEET HOME], NIRAV has accomplished a lot of things during his time in Australia. Apart from material things, one thing that I acknowledge a lot is his ability to bring smile on people's face no matter where he goes. So Nirav, well done and congratulations. I pray and wish that all your wishes come true in this new Home of yours and your prosperity graph should only go in up north direction going forward.

And now onto Snehal! I think Nirav is as fussy as an old grandma [Some of you might agree]! He took a long time to find the right girl of his dreams, but now Snehal and Nirav have found one another. All I can say to this couple is all the best for your future together and may you both get all the happiness and prosperity that you both wish for. Congratulations once again.

Finally, I will like to thank all those who attended Saturday's function. It was fun and pleasure having you all around and I hope you all enjoyed as much as I did if not more. We did have some delays in catering, so for those who missed out on the great food, Nirav owe's you a treat. Get him to take you out to Angeethi Restaurant in Wyndamvale!

My 6th iPhone arrived today

Photo

My sixth iPhone in 11 months has arrived today.

Not that I am proud of this fact neither happy about it, but I already had 5 iPhone replacements so far. Every time with unique defects or problems of it's own. This time Apple has replaced the iPhone with a 3G S model. Let's see how it goes this time.

Tested the video and camera and it's awesome.

Me and My Macbook after a month

It has been more than a month since I bought my Macbook Pro. Still loving it.

So what are my observations so far: –

I wanted to time myself to three minutes and wrote whatever that come to my mind, so for sure this is not a full list of things that I think of Mac.

  1. I for sure think that it has made me more productive. There can be few reasons behind it, I don't fiddle with the system as much as I used to do on PC as I knew more there. Another thing is that the hardware and the software has just worked for me so far!
  2. I know understand the craziness people have after Apple products [although I already had the test of it using iPhone all this time].
  3. It makes using computers easy! I just don't need to know about 1001 folders on the system. I know and only worry about my Users folder.
  4. Time Machine backup is awesome! love it.
  5. There are way more software than I thought would be and so far have catered all my needs
  6. There are lot many cool free software as well.
  7. My Macbook Pro is so quite compared to my Desktop and also to my other PC laptops..
  8. I am now cool with using Mac OS and don't crave for my Windows OS.
  9. Did I say I feel cool just using my Mac
  10. 95% of my time since I got my Mac is spend on Mac computers at home, although I have few many PC's at home
  11. Love the trackpad.
  12. I used to be a guy who would love to do things with Mouse and not use keyboard. Since getting Mac, I have now new respect for shortcut keys and again have gained productivity.
  13. I am a more more more Gmail Ninja on my Macbook.
  14. I have not used backlit feature a lot yet, but might come in handy some day.
  15. Love Spotlight search feature, and I am glad now it's part of iPhone.

I still have to self learn the system and may be I am going to put myself a good book or a course to learn more of Mac OS and how it can help me utilize it more beneficially.

Do you have any tips for me?

Dear Tejas,

The Dropbox team has been hard at work these past few months and we'd like to tell you about some upcoming changes and enhancements to the Dropbox service.

Blah Blah Blah……

Performance Improvements and LAN Sync
In addition to the iPhone app, we're also finishing up a new version of the Dropbox desktop software that features numerous performance improvements and our new "LAN sync" feature. LAN sync knows when Dropboxes are on the same network and will automatically exchange files directly between computers instead of downloading them from our servers – this makes sharing large files in an office environment much faster than was previously possible.

We've received great feedback from many of our users and are working on a lot of the stuff you've been asking for. Stay tuned and happy Dropboxing!

Thanks for using Dropbox!

Remember : Meetings has costs associated to them

Meeting_has_cost

Every meeting that is spent in a meeting room has costs associated with it. Starting from the electricity you use in the meeting room, to tele-conference calls, wages of people involved in the meetings to the impact of the decisions that come as a result of the meeting. The key costs are money, time and emotions.

Hard to measure the cost of emotions while in a meeting room, but it is easy to measure the cost in terms of time and money. So while you are in a meeting room, remember to make the meetings most cost effective by having clear cut objectives and using yours and other person's time more efficiently.

Before you Retweet next time, check how many people you are going to annoy

Should I Retweet?

Should @tejaaa retweet @guykawasaki’s tweet?

This RT will be new to 568 people and annoy 467 people.

45% of @tejaaa ‘s followers also follow @guykawasaki (flip it!)

I like to retweet [RT] if I think it’s really going to add value, is funny/useful or reinforce it’s value. I try to do this sparingly. But next time before you retweet find out how many people might be seeing that post second time or more than that on http://shouldirt.com and then see if the double up is worth it.

So I I decide to RT one of @guykawasaki’s post I am going to double up post for nearly 45% of my followers who also follow @guykawasaki.

A handy tool!
